Students intending to transfer to the Marriott School of Management
(MSM) must first seek admission to Brigham Young University by
completing the following steps:
Send official transcripts
from all previously attended institutions to BYU. This should
be done well before the BYU Marriott School application deadline to
allow enough time to process the transcript. The MSM is unable to
process your application if there are missing semesters, classes, or
associates degree from your transfer school. Transfer students are
often required to submit official transcripts twice: when they apply
to BYU and again when they complete their studies at the transferring
school.
Management, Information Systems, Accounting, and Finance at Brigham
Young University are limited enrollment programs. After completing the
necessary prerequisites, students must make formal application to the
MSM and be accepted to the major.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that transfer
courses will satisfy Marriott School requirements. All Management,
Information Systems, and Accounting transfer courses must be evaluated
through the Undergraduate Programs Office in 460 TNRB
(msm_transfer@byu.edu). Many courses have already been evaluated.
Evaluated transfer course equivalents for select colleges can be
accessed below:
For colleges and business-related courses that have not yet been
evaluated by the MSM, transfer students may email a complete syllabus
including a topical course calendar for the semester the course was
taken (msm_transfer@byu.edu).
Students must include their name, BYU ID number, phone number, and
email with requests for evaluation. The evaluation process
typically requires two weeks. If you have questions regarding
courses taken at other colleges, contact the Management Advisement
Center at (801) 422-4285 or at msm_transfer@byu.edu.
Marriott School Transfer Policies
The following transfer policies apply:
In order to be competitive in the admission process, transfer
students are STRONGLY encouraged to complete some BYU courses (e.g., a
semester) before applying to the MSM.
It is STRONGLY recommended that students who are interested in the
accounting program take Accounting 310 at BYU.
Courses transferred from other institutions to fulfill
PREREQUISITES will be discounted three-tenths of a grade point in the
application process (an A becomes an A-, etc.).
Upper-division transfer credits are accepted on an individual
basis. Contact the Undergraduate Programs Office regarding
upper-division transfer credit.
A limit of twelve hours of upper-division credit will be accepted.
Only six hours will be accepted for requirements beyond the Management
Integrated Core.
No transfer credits will be applied to the Accounting Junior Core,
Information Systems Core, or the Management Integrated Core.
